ABOUT MAKAIO (muh-kah-yo)
MAKAIO is a multi-talented performer whose professional training spans music and theatre. Starting his career at age 3 with a national Cap'n Crunch commercial, MAKAIO was performing with the National Broadway Touring Company of Evita by age 7, under the direction of Harold Prince. He later expanded his training, studying at prestigious institutions such as the British American Drama Academy (BADA) in Oxford, where he worked under Sir Benjamin Kingsley, and DePaul University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with Honors. MAKAIO’s comprehensive training includes work with top instructors in music, theatre, voice, and dance. His education includes studying under luminaries like Anne Perillo, Elizabeth Gottlieb, and Larry Moran, as well as training at schools such as the Art Linkletter Dance Studio and the Theatre School at DePaul. He has performed across various mediums—film, television, radio, and live theater—with credits in projects like Biloxi Blues, Much Ado About Nothing, and Godspell. In addition to acting and music, MAKAIO has worked as a director, composer, producer, and motivational speaker. His diverse creative output includes writing plays, composing music for theatrical productions, and leading workshops in music and drama. He has performed in major venues such as the UIC Pavilion and has been a prominent figure in radio shows like Adventures in Music and Unshackled. A true artist, MAKAIO strives to connect deeply with his audience, infusing every performance with passion and emotion.
